Mask Limpet or Specked Limpet (Notoacmea persona) ~ There several varieties of limpets that reside in the Abalone Cove Tide Pool.  Limpets are a relative of the snail with a one-piece shell shaped like a pointy hat.  It has one big foot that's like a strong suction cup.  Limpets feed only at night because it's safer.  Their diet is algae and they always go back to the same place after eating (sometime they spend their entire lives in the same spot).  To find their way "home," they leave a trail of mucus behind them (like dropping bread crumbs).  They can then return home following their trail using sensitive chemorecptors (a sensory nerve cell or sense organ that responds to chemical stimuli).  They do not have eyes.
