Giant Sea Anemone
Giant green sea anemone (Anthopleura xanthogrammica) ~ This species of sea anemone (pronounced "a nem a knee") can grow to 12".  It is found in solitary existance and in groups.  The green color comes from microscopic green algae that live in the tenacles.  Sea anemones possess stinging cells at the ends of their tentacles to catch passing prey.
